The Third Passenger

The novel The Third Passenger is touching story of and Sahil Chakerverty who is a poor labourer in the Grain Market but a beautiful girl Kajal; the daughter of the owner of the Grain House falls in love with him; she finances him and both join the Convent school. She takes him to Calcutta for graduation but he becomes the Forest Officer and leaves Calcutta and goes to Port Blair. In his journey by train he meets the Spirit of The Third Passenger who guides and supports him to kill the dacoits Rane and Bishe who had killed the husband and laws of his beloved. It is the sensational story of the oppressive Thakurs; Dhiraj and Seth Gopal Das. They are oppressive; they kidnap the poor girls and rape them. Nemesis falls on them as all are killed by the dacoits. Kajal becomes a widow but she is surprised to meet her old lover Sahil who becomes the Police Officer. His friend The Third Passenger helps Sahil to eliminate all the dacoits and to return back all the lands and the Haveli to Kajal. The Novel is at once thrilling; sensational; motivational and depicting the male hegemony and patriarchal oppression.
