After completing education, joined the Govt. of India through U.P.S.C. in the National Planning Commission(1985) and was involved in conceptualizing, formulating, and implementing the "National Programme, Integrated Rural Energy Programme(IREP)" in 780 blocks (one in each district) across the country. Later, migrated to the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy. Was responsible for
consolidating and integrate IREP with other ongoing non-conventional energy programs for effective implementation.
Subsequently, joined "Prestigeous"Office of the Principle Scientifics Adviser to the Government of India (where he was responsible for evolving National Energy Map of India. ) From there, in2010 retired from Govt service. He was also responsible in Planning commission for establishing five IREP Training Centers, each in Delhi, Gujarat, UP (Lucknow), and Meghalaya (Shillong). These centers are functioning as "Centre of Excellence."
