This research was carried out to test the significance of discipleship in achieving the great commission and how it impacts on the holistic approach to Christian lives and the community at large. This case study was carried out in Mityana, Uganda. This area was chosen because it has a booming Pentecostal community. The study noted a number of impediments such as disunity among Christians, lack of proper education, poor leadership, etc. This was caused by poor leadership style which led to malnourished disciples. Dr. Tamale echoed in his study what Hebrews 5:12-14 said: For even though by this time you ought to be teaching others, you actually need someone to teach you over again the very first principles of God's Word. You have come to need milk, not solid food. For everyone who continues to feed on milk is obviously inexperienced and unskilled in the doctrine of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action), for he is a mere infant [not able to talk yet]! But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law. Therefore, it was recommended that churches should embark on discipleship of members with proper solid food to attain spiritual maturity, but also achieve a holistic approach to life.
