Description

The story is a brief account of the life and aspirations of a girl child born into a conservative middle class Syrian Christian family of Kerala after India became independent. Her joys and sorrows while growing up in the essentially androcentric society are indirectly referred to. while also highlighting how a minority of generous and empathetic persons around enriched the girl’s life even in the claustrophobic social milieu. The prejudice and trivialisation women professionals face while trying to gain relevance in professions like medicine or STEM fields may be diminishing, but still exist. The author has dreams of witnessing a resurgent India with a confident and tolerant people with scientific temper excelling in research and innovation while retaining their spiritual awareness and legacy.
